Acrylic on Canvas (with some needlepoint)

So my lovely girlfriend comes up to me with this picture saying
"baby my Dad really likes this depiction of Palm Spring picture and
thought it was kinda your style. Wink, wink" Her father recently
got a house down there and moved from Seattle a few months prier.
His timing was perfect, I was looking to start a big painting and
wasn't sure what I wanted to do. When I saw the Palm Springs picture
I thought instantly about how it was the exact opposite of the gray
Seattle he was leaving and came up with the two windows idea.
I wanted to incorporate his dogs cause he's one of those
"I love my dogs a freakish amount" people and so I thought it
would be nice to do like a glamour shots look to them. The
other picture I figured could equal his beloved dogs
would be his daughter. I wanted to do a "bless this kitchen" style
thing in the middle but didn't want it to say that. So in trying to figure
out how to paint a needlepoint looking sign, I found it better to just
needlepoint it and sew it to the canvas. I wanted some fun perspective
so I went with the kitchen sink idea, it was fun to do orchid but
a first for me. Oh and in the Seattle window it's a humming bird
feeder, his wife and him had one outside there Seattle
window they very much enjoyed... or so Sarah tells me.
Done in Seattle 2011.

"I like it. Its kinda Cartoony" Just Kidding. This is a genius idea. Why did you change the Joy bottle? This is going to be the best gift he ever received. OK, second best, Sarah is most likely first. Keep up the great work.
ReplyDeleteI agree with him. I do think its genius. I know my dad will love it. Thank you so much for putting the time and effort into this.
